10x Genomics is looking for engineers to work in our Platform and Infrastructure team. This team develops the frameworks, development tools, and re-useable sub-components for our scientific computing environment. Recent projects include: * A custom domain specific language for organizing and executing complex bioinformatics pipelines * Customized Linux tool chains and build environments * Performance analysis (profiling) and optimization of scientific code * In-house cluster management tools that must scale to thousands of computers * Specialized tools for automated packaging, deployment, and testing of scientific software.
A typical day in our team might involve looking at assembly code and investigating python profilers in the afternoon. We work exclusively in Linux and write mostly in Go and Python. We also support Rust, C++, and node.js.
About 10x Genomics
10x Genomics is leading the revolution of single-cell genomic sequencing, a method that allows scientists and researchers to measure what goes on at the most basic unit of biology: the cell. In just the past year, scientists using 10x technology have discovered new insights about brain cancer, cystic fibrosis, Alzheimer's disease, the immune system, and more. Single-cell analysis will fundamentally change biological research, and its rapid adoption and informative potential was recognized by Science magazine, who named single-cell analysis their 2018 Breakthrough of the Year.
Our products and software accelerate biological research every day, and are used in hundreds of universities, hospitals, and pharmaceutical companies worldwide. 10x Genomics is also one of the fastest-growing companies in biotech and in the Bay Area overall, growing from $3M revenue in 2015, to $146M in 2018, achieving a valuation of over $1B in January 2019.
We are hiring software engineers to help improve our visualization and analysis tools, to scale our infrastructure to handle the terabytes of genomic data we generate each day, to test and improve the performance of our pipelines, and to design the next generation of genomics applications. We make extensive use of cloud services, modern front-end frameworks, and a variety of languages to get the job done. As a 10x engineer, you will not only work with an experienced team of developers, but experts in chemistry, biology, microfluidics, and manufacturing engineering. It is an exciting place to work, at an exciting point in time.
10x Genomics has opened a brand new HQ facility within walking distance of the West Dublin/Pleasanton BART station in Pleasanton, CA, but also has offices in downtown San Francisco, and is open to remote work where applicable. We offer competitive salary and equity packages, an unlimited vacation policy, and a full range of benefits.
Smart, nice people working on technology that is changing the world. It's like living inside an issue of Scientific American.
