Admiral
We help digital publishers build better relationships with their audiences through targeted messaging, subscriptions, and alternative value exchanges that ensure that content creators and publishers can build more sustainable businesses in an increasingly privacy-conscious and user-choice-centric digital landscape.
Why join us?
We're changing the business model and incentive structure of online media to reflect the genuine relationships that audiences should have with news outlets and online communities. If we win, users everywhere will have more choices for supporting content they trust and publishers will be more responsive to their users and less dependent on an advertising-only business model
We work with some of the world largest publishing brands—think, NBC, CBS, PGA Tour, and others.
We are a well funded, customer driven technology company lead by startup and publisher veterans with a clear vision for the market and problems we're working on.
We're an early stage startup with great traction and product market fit—we're growing and ready to move faster.
Engineering at Admiral
Our product team is driven by two week cycles, with projects allocated on a half day basis and prioritized thoughtfully based on custo mer needs and our product roadmap. Most engineers are expected to have a high degree of product ownership for key features they implement—from initial ideation or customer feedback, speccing and validation, documentation and planning, to implementation, deployment, and feature maintenance. We prioritize asyncronous/written planning and documentation, but depend on meetings when they help us move faster. We use Gerrit for PRs, and depend on automated testing, and clear QA procedures to back up our CI pipeline.
Scale is the hardest challenge we face. From a technology standpoint, we operate at the scale of adtech—our code runs on thousands of websites that are high traffic and highly visible. Our UIs are seen by millions of users a day. Our on-site code needs to be optimized for size, browser support, and compatibility. Our dashboard is secure and reliable enough for publishers to configure experiences for their users at that scale. Our analytics and backend need to keep up with and process data at that scale, and do it in a cost AND time efficient manner.
Implement new templates (and their dashboard config screens) that will instantly be used by publishers and served to thousand of users, with the publisher's branding and messaging, all configured by them.
Refactor javascript projects to typescript, adding new unit testing along the way.
Write a new gateway microservice that makes customer data accessible for third party integrations enabled by the customer.
