Relationships are the backbone of the world's most valuable industries—from sales and business development to finance and philanthropy. But the tools used today to manage those relationships are broken. Actionable context remains locked away in the email and calendar streams of coworkers and colleagues, and no one has the time to analyze or organize this exponentially growing trail of data.
Affinity ingests and analyzes this massive communications data stream and uses it to power our platform, which helps our customers understand, manage, and leverage their networks more effectively.
We've raised over $40M, and in the past two years, we launched the product and have since processed over 1 billion communication data points and generated 4+ million introductions and connections while capturing close to 40% of the global venture capital market. We are also actively breaking into new markets. We're growing fast and we’ve got a lot left to build.

We have a great team — Our founders include Joe Lonsdale (founder of Palantir) and computer scientists from Stanford. Our engineering team has worked at great companies (Google, Facebook, Quora, Dropbox, Stripe, Airbnb, Palantir, etc), our design advisor is Joshua Goldenberg (Head of Design at Slack), and our VP of Product used to run growth at SurveyMonkey.
We're working with lots of great customers and growing fast — in two years we've captured 40% of the global venture capital market, as well as many of the best names in private equity, corporate development, real estate, agencies, and more - you can see some of them here. We've grown revenue ~600% over the past year and have big plans for growth in the coming years — we'd love your help in tackling them.
We're driven by our values — You can read about our values here. We take them seriously (they are, for instance, part of every hiring decision) and they're a big part of how we work together.
We're solving a planet-scale problem — Relationships are the lifeblood of every major industry and form the foundation for almost every successful career. Through executing on our vision, we have the potential to create immense value for companies and people around the world.
As a team, we value feedback, learning, and deep collaboration within engineering as well as with product, design, and business-facing teams. We use a lightweight 2-week sprint process to stay focused and get things done, and we use retrospective meetings to continuously improve.
Scaling and performance: Tracking communication flows between our customers and all of their contacts means that we capture a huge amount of data. This creates a ton of interesting challenges: How can we rapidly ingest billions of emails and calendar events? How can we scale out data processing and analysis across all those data points? How can we keep user-facing response times low while querying this dataset?
Artificial intelligence: We're automating a lot of processes for our customers by extracting insights from data, which can be tricky to get right. For instance, how can we figure out which emails need a reply, so we can help our clients avoid dropping the ball? How can we intelligently identify introduction emails? How can we compute an accurate relationship strength score based on a history of interactions?
Security: Our customers handle huge deals where confidential information is critical. Security needs to be top-notch: email and calendar data, for instance, is extremely sensitive and needs to be kept safe.
Revamp our data architecture for scale —As our company and product scale to serve many more users, we’re ready to revamp our architecture to efficiently capture and analyze billions of more data points. We’re rapidly outgrowing our single-node PostgreSQL instance, and exploring solutions involving replication, sharding, and NoSQL systems to maintain and improve performance for our production systems even as our datasets grow exponentially.
Perfect our web and mobile apps — If you're passionate about interfaces, you’ll create beautiful, intuitive visualizations and features to help our users find clarity in a world full of noise. You'll work closely with other talented product designers to create interfaces that customers love to use.
