Xin Ge – Xin is our Global Chief Technology Officer. Xin's most recent role was the Head of Risk Management at Uber, where he was responsible for Uber's global account security, payment risk, marketplace fraud and abuse. Prior to Uber, Xin spent 14 years with eBay and PayPal focusing on trust and safety and overall risk management. Akash Garg – Akash joins Afterpay as the U.S. CTO. Most recently, Akash was the Director of Engineering at Uber, where he led the Driver and Mobile engineering teams. Prior, Akash was Senior Director of Engineering for Twitter's Growth team from 2011- 2015, where his teams delivered tens of millions of active users to Twitter. He also co-founded and developed a social networking site, hi5.com, that emerged as one of the largest social networking sites in the world prior to its sale in 2011. This is an unique opportunity to join at the early stages of a US-based company that has strong traction and product market fit in Australia.
We have 4 engineering teams and hiring across those- there are many opportunities to make impact.
Our Australia business processes over an incredible amount of transactions / year. We expect that to scale up dramatically as we enter the US market. Engineers will have the chance to deal with a large and engaged user base along with the large amounts of payments running through the system.
Additionally, we will be building first-class fraud and risk systems to help us ensure we keep bad actors out of our system.
Be one of our first engineers on our Mobile app. Our Mobile team here in the US is 3 people are we are looking to grow it! Currently, the app is in the top 15 overall in Australia. This is an opportunity to take that app and bring it live to the US market. From there, we have many ideas on how to continue making it more engaging for our customers and drive additional growth and revenue. Some examples: loyalty program, enhanced shopping experience, and referrals.
Help us manage the millions of communications that go out to our 5M user base on a monthly basis. We are in the process of re-architecting how we send email, push and SMS and you can be one of the first to help us make this a reality.
In the US, there are over 60,000 small and medium-size merchants who would benefit tremendously from a product such as Afterpay. You can be one of the founding engineers on our growth efforts in this area to sign up them and enusure they are successful in their implementation of the Afterpay product.
