Role Description

The Role

Afterpay has a unique opportunity for a Frontend Software Engineer to join our team and make an immediate impact on our product by getting involved early at our San Francisco office. The Frontend Software Engineer will assist in influencing many aspects of our business through building the front-end applications that our customers and merchants experience every day. This is an exciting opportunity to make a direct, tangible impact on our product and work on projects that are pivotal to our team’s success and our company’s growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage and grow several web applications using modern frontend frameworks
  • Peer review design decisions, code, automated tests, and documentation
  • Work with a dynamic and fun fully cross-functional team
  • Participate in the ongoing design and architecture of our frontend offerings
  • Collaborating with our cross-functional teams consisting of designers, product managers, and QA in an agile, fast-paced environment

Minimum Qualifications

  • Extensive front end development experience using HTML5, CSS3, Object-Oriented JavaScript with strong UX/UI principles including responsive web design
  • Hands-on experience with JavaScript MVC frameworks; Angular, React, or Vue preferred
  • Ability to produce well-structured HTML utilizing efficient CSS
  • A solid understanding of the latest web technologies
  • Solid understanding of how to build testable, decoupled, maintainable code and other engineering best practices
  • Understanding of integration technologies: RESTful APIs, JSON/XML, and Structured Logging
  • Experience with version control, preferably Git
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and apply new methodologies as required
