Airbyte is the new open-source data integration platform that runs in the safety of your cloud and replicates data from applications, APIs & databases to data warehouses, lakes and other destinations. In addition to offering a quickly increasing list of maintenance-free connectors, it makes building your own connectors trivial. Airbyte’s ambition is to make data integrations a commodity.

Since launching last year, Airbyte grew the number of connectors supported from 6 to 50, and counts now more than 600 companies that synced data with them. Airbyte just raised a significant Seed round with Accel and YC, and high-profile business angels in the data industry (co-founder of Segment, founder of Liveramp, former GM of Cloudera, etc.).

Engineering team and processes

Our team is very flat and because our product is open-source, and geared toward engineers, all decisions are bottom-up.

We have have monthly cycles. Before a cycle we brainstorm together what features the community and our users are requesting and we decide of the priorities.

Every large project is owned by one engineer and starts with a tech spec where the context, objectives, suggested solutions and milestones are described. It helps gather feedback from the rest of the team.

Every week we kickoff the week and we decide which bugs, large initiative deliverables and small devs we want to complete

Technical Challenges
  • We need to ensure we can build connectors fast and maintain them at scale. All while enabling our community and users to contribute
  • We need to be able to scale and distribue replications accros external infrastructures
Projects you might work on
  • You would build the transfer layer for our data in order to scale our replication.

  • You would be build our no/low-code framework to build new connectors

  • You would build our real time data source (clickstream volume)
