Role Description

As a remote Senior Software Engineer, Machine Learning, you'll report to our CTO and work with machine learning PhDs from top schools (e.g., Stanford), and experienced machine learning engineers from top companies (e.g., Google). You will put machine learning into practice, so your code directly affects our customers immediately. You will work with large proprietary medical and clinical datasets containing both structured documents, natural language and images.

AKASA is based in South San Francisco. As a company, we embraced remote work before COVID-19. We consider ourselves experts in working collaboratively wherever our team members happen to reside.

What You'll Do: Participate in developing state-of-art machine learning solutions to address large-scale healthcare problems Develop pipelines that collect, preprocess, and deliver data with a measurable quality Write production-ready software with fast and efficient algorithms

Skills & Qualifications: Master's degree in Computer Science or similar 5+ years of work experience in machine learning or data engineering Have experience launching production systems from the ground up Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python and C++ Development experience with big data technologies such as SQL and AWS/Cloud Platform Knowledge of machine learning frameworks such as Scikit-Learn, Keras, Tensorflow Full-stack development experience for an end-to-end machine learning solution Ideal experience with Natural Language Processing or Computer Vision

At AKASA, our mission is to build the future of healthcare with AI. We believe that complexity in medical billing and reimbursement in the United States drives up the hidden costs that we all pay, both financially and in the erosion of trust in our healthcare system. We’re here to change that.

AKASA's unique expert-in-the-loop approach, Unified Automation™, combines modern machine-learning with human judgment and subject matter expertise to provide resilient automation. As the only Unified Automation company for healthcare, we use the same machine learning approaches that made driverless cars possible to provide health systems with a single solution for revenue cycle management.

Company Culture

There’s a unique sense of home and family at AKASA and much of it is driven by our team - from the bottom up you might say. In our remote environment, we have dedicated slack channels for sharing pictures of pets and another for sharing pictures of kids. We also have a highlights channel where folks can share their highlights from each week and they can be either work related or personal. Meetings are routinely conducted with kids or dogs on laps and there have been any number of instances where team members or the company has sent care packages or meal gift cards when someone has had to care for a sick parent or family member. We also prioritize making time to come together for team building activities that include everything from chocolate tastings to painting and building gingerbread houses for the holidays. We support one another as people as well as supporting one another as colleagues.
