Senior Full Stack Engineer (Product Engineering - Ongoing)

Alloy is where you belong!

Alloy is an Identity Decisioning Platform, enabling innovative fintech companies and banks to manage KYC, AML, fraud, risk and other components of customer onboarding. Alloy’s single API enables its customers to access about 150 third party data sources in real-time to improve decision-making and streamline customer experiences.

Alloy is the industry leader, working with companies like Brex and Marqeta, as well as top 20 banks. We're backed by venture capital firms that have taken countless companies to IPO like Lightspeed Ventures, Bessemer Venture Partners, Canapi Ventures, Primary Venture Partners, Eniac Ventures, and others and well positioned to bring on incredibly talented individuals to help take us to the next level!

Alloy operates in a hybrid-work environment. We look to foster collaboration and community by having our New York team on-site twice a week, and our remote employees on-site three times a quarter. Join an exciting startup company in the fintech space named one of Inc. Magazine’s Best Workplaces, Best FinTech to Work for by American Banker, and Best Place to Work by Built in NYC year after year.

What you'll be doing

As a Senior Full Stack Engineer you will have the opportunity to:

Design new features

Talk to users, understand their requirements, and work with our Product Designer and Product Manager to spec out beautiful new user experiences.

Build them

You are fully empowered to start with the database design and owning the entire development path finishing with the final UX and style touches. You'll write good code that brings your features to life. Once they're tested, peer-reviewed, and QA'ed, they'll be deployed to our production environment.

Bug fixes

What went wrong? How can we make sure it never happens again? We live for the blameless root-cause analysis after getting things back up and running for our customers as soon as possible!

Support the team

Keep the customer success crew in the loop for a feature timeline. Run a SQL query for operations to determine this month's billing amounts. Teach engineers about a new technology you've been learning about. Mentor your coworkers. Help out where you can!

You decide! It's a small team—the definition of the role is somewhat flexible and will grow to reflect your own strengths and interests!

Who we're looking for

Alloy's product can be roughly divided into two sides—a Django/React web app and a Node.js API. We're looking for help maintaining and building out features in our web app that help with fraud detection and classification of transactions, data ingestion, integrating with new clients and 3rd parties, and platform-level initiatives. We are looking for someone who has:

5+ years real-world experience working as a software developer on production code.

While we like to think of ourselves as platform-agnostic in our hiring process, we expect that someone in this role will be familiar with or willing to learn our existing stack:

Python 3, Django - Serves as the back end for our dashboards.

ES6 React - Most of our complex front end logic, compiled to browser-agnostic Javascript by Webpack and Babel.

PostgreSQL - Our main data store.

Unix command line

Teamwork experience!

We're open to people whose experience is mainly on personal projects and/or contracting but we'd really like someone who has experience working collaboratively with a team.

Related degrees are great but we care more about your coding and communication skills than a diploma.

We're a lean team, so your impact will be felt immediately. If this all sounds like a good fit for you, why not join us?

Alloy’s Covid-19 Company Statement

Alloy does not require employees to be vaccinated against Covid-19, but vaccination or testing may be mandated by the relevant local laws with which the company will comply. If this position involves contact with third parties, attendance on-site for events, travel, and/or work in our New York City offices, those actions will be subject to any relevant local laws, venue or customer requirements, or travel requirements regarding vaccines or testing (and exemptions thereto).

At this time, Alloy is currently following compliance regulations with New York City’s Private Sector Mandate and is offering religious and medical accommodations for all eligible employees and visitors

About Alloy APIs

Alloy builds identity verification APIs to protect companies and consumers from identity thieves.

Our product allows fintech companies (checking accounts, savings accounts, credit cards, investment accounts, etc) to use data to verify the identities of customers signing up for their accounts online. We provide data source integrations, a decision engine, and a robust set of analytics and reporting dashboards to decrease fraud by 50% while increasing the number of approvals by 30%.

We're a people-first culture. We believe that you should be able to bring your best self to work so you can do your best work.
