Engineering at Ambra Health
We operate on six week cycles. Each team has a product owner that prioritizes tasks and does regular stand-ups with the team for regular feedback. At the end of each cycle the product owner and engineers do a release report highlighting the features of that sprint. We use a Kanban board and Agile methods. We are in a regulated industry, but we keep the processes streamlined so engineers can do their best work and see it have immediate impact.
We tackle highly time-sensitive processing, storage and retrieval of medical images with petabytes of data and billions of records. On the front end, this is UI that lets doctors find the data relevant for today's visits or review the images for the next patient in the operating room. On the back end it is processing highly complex DICOM data structures efficiently and squeezing optimal performance out of the storage hardware.
Join a small team designing and building a high-performance image transformer to extract image data from the DICOM file and transform it into a compatible format for the web viewer. Work with operations to stand up the service to handle high volume traffic that comes in unpredictable spurts.
Work closely with product owners and subject matter experts to design, build, and test features on a medical image viewer, used by doctors and clinicians for diagnostic and research.
Working at Ambra Health
We are kind, considerate, hard working professionals who value getting features out the door into customer hands over all. We strongly believe the implementer decides, and give engineers autonomy to find the best solution to solve the problem.
We are actively spreading the word about our open positions as widely as possible to increase diversity in applicants to open positions and our team.
Emphasis on diversity and inclusion at all levels of the organization. Regular, required diversity and inclusion training.
Work from Home
We were a remote team before COVID and will be a remote team after COVID. We require reasonable overlap but have employees in all time zones.
Every six months the engineers gather for a few days somewhere in the US for a relatively unstructured onsite. For the work days we get a big room with white boards and let engineers share, collaborate, plan, brainstorm.
