Anomalo addresses this problem by adding a new layer to the Modern Data Stack: a Data Quality Platform that monitors enterprise data to automatically detect and root-cause any data issues, thus allowing teams to resolve any hiccups with their data before making decisions, running operations, or powering models.

Engineering at Anomalo

Engineering team and processes

Our engineering team operates on a one-week cadence, with each engineer having a great deal of autonomy. We meet once a week as a team to review our roadmap, prioritize customer requests, and discuss WIP from a design or architecture standpoint. Then we do weekly demos where everyone can show off what they have recently shipped. We record every meeting, and most communications are asynchronous to support our remote-first culture. We have very high and fully automated unit and integration test coverage and run our entire test suite on every supported data warehouse. We use a backlog in Notion to track what we are working on and PRs in GitHub to do code reviews. Everyone merges code to master, and we cut releases weekly that are rolled out to our SaaS platform and then to in-VPC customer deployments.

Technical Challenges

Our unsupervised machine learning algorithms automatically detect drift in arbitrary data stored in cloud data warehouses. We run our entire stack entirely inside customer VPCs, either on single instances in Docker or on Kubernetes clusters.
