Our team previously worked in insurance and has seen firsthand how broken financial infrastructure in the insurance space is. Modern payment infrastructure such as Stripe, Affirm etc. are not well-tailored insurance due to the unique transaction flows & regulations.
We raised a $5.5m seed round from First Round Capital, Susa Ventures, FirstMark Capital, South Park Commons, Box Group & several insurtech leaders in April 2021.
We have several early tech-forward design partners ready to beta test our platform given how painful their payment systems today are. We've started building the product and are looking to launch in Q3. You will be a major contributor in the 0 -> 1 phase helping us bring the product to market and scale thereafter.
Engineering at Ascend
Our engineering planning starts on Notion and turns to tasks on Linear. We then pick up the highest priority tasks and ship them as they're done. We have Continous Integration/Delivery setup. Github is used for code reviews. Testing, analytics & monitoring are interlaced pretty well.
We're building at the intersection of finance & insurance so there are plenty of technical challenges. To start, within insurance there are numerous products (cyber, business owner, etc.) with varying requirements - designing simple APIs that work across the category for various types of partners (agencies, insurance carriers, wholesalers) is an interesting challenge. Inter-weaving that with financing & payments makes it a larger challenge.
You would get a chance at designing our public-facing APIs to create & service policies whether that's payments or financing for our partners. You will get a chance to work closely with the customers.
Designing & building white-labeled checkout experiences to allow less technical partners to integrate with very low effort. You will get a chance to work together both with our designer & partners in determining this experience & product.
