Assured
Assured aims to disrupt the insurance industry by modernizing its most archaic component: claims. Currently, 300,000 claims adjusters spend their days talking on the phone and typing into unstructured text fields. We can do better—by combining logic, inference, and modern computer vision tools, we're able to both increase efficiency and improve customer satisfaction. By changing how the underlying information is ingested and stored, we're poised to impact the core of a trillion dollar industry.
Why join us?
Working on a meaningful problem in a trillion dollar industry at its earliest stages.
Currently closing contracts with some of the largest insurers in the world.
Founding team is out of Stanford, two 2x founders.
Backed by Global Founders Capital, Neo, and others.
Engineering at Assured
We're currently hiring our first engineers outside of the founding team. If you're looking for structure, managers, PMs, etc this isn't for you.
If you're looking for autonomy, trust, and responsibility in a small, fast paced team, you'll fit right in.
There are hundreds of questions we could ask about what happened. Which ones do we need to ask, and in what order? How do answers to previous questions influence the downstream flow?
Creating and evaluating questions that are indicative of fraud, at-fault, etc.
Once we have the data (question answers, images, insurance policy info), running it through every ML analysis we can think of.
We need to build (via webapp) a way for users to upload insurance cards. That means capturing the photo, extracting the card, then running OCR on the text. All in a day's work, right?
Taking a new integration (ex. a tow truck API) from conception to frontend design to backend integration to deployment.
A certain question is confusing users. Let's understand what went wrong (click patterns, user interviews, etc.) then design and implement a testing program to find a flow that gets the information we need and makes users happier.
Working at Assured
We're young and energetic, with a genuine hair-on-fire hatred of bad/ugly software (same thing, really) and a genuine, deeply held affection for beautifully made software that's efficient and joyful.
We believe in transparency and openness. We're as candid with each other as we are about the problems we're solving.

Company Retreats
We love off-sites. Team bonding at such an early stage is important. And why not work from Big Sur once in a while...
-
Travel
Insurers that we work with are all across the globe. From across the US to Europe and South America. Insurance is part of every culture (and we hope to be too!)
-
Flexible Hours
We don't care when you're getting stuff done—only that it gets done, and gets done well.
-
Health Insurance
Full medical and dental, of course.
-
Team Activities
One of our founders is a sommelier. 'Nuf said.
-
Maternal/Paternal Leave
Being a new parent is hard. We'll offer at least 3 months maternity and paternity leave, and more on a case-by-case basis.
-
Transportation
We get it, commuting sucks. We'll do our best to support you on a case-by-case basis, whether that means Caltrain passes or (maybe!) an electric scooter.
-
Work from Home
Now and again it's totally fine. Again, our priority is to ship great product. Whatever helps you do that best, we're down for.
-
Relocation
If you're special (enough!), we'll do our darnedest to get you to the Bay Area at as low an impact to you as possible.
