Axpo US, LLC
We focus on delivering a full range of energy risk management solutions to producers, consumers and other market participants.
Our company is committed to equal employment opportunity. We will not discriminate against employees or applicants for employment on any legally-recognized basis including, but not limited to: race; color; religion; genetic information; national origin; sex; pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions; age; disability; citizenship status; uniform service member status; or any other protected class under federal, state, or local law.
We have a start-up feel and a long-term growth agenda, with the backing of our multi-billion dollar Swiss parent company
Our technology landscape has been designed to be monolithic. We spend virtually all of our coding time in Beacon, a Python-based vendor ETRM, have no internal reconciliations, and don't need to be proficient in multiple programming languages to be effective here.
Our code release process is extremely simple and fast, so we maximize the amount of time we spend solving problems, coding, and interacting with the business.
Our dev team is closely integrated with our users, so this role has excellent exposure to the front, middle and back office users. Successful work can immediately be integrated into the business the day it is written.
Our engineering team consists of 2 full-time employees and 2 part-time interns. We aren't large enough to use agile, waterfall, etc, so we use pair coding and use good coding practices so that we don't have to solve the same problem more than once.
Between our light SDLC and our Python-based Beacon ETRM, we are freed up to spend most of our time interacting with the business, expanding to support new client requests, and solving problems.
The technical challenges are mostly algorithmic in nature. Some recent examples include streamlining our distribution of nightly jobs on the cloud, simplifying complex deal pricing logic to run efficiently and builidng logic that can scale up with our ever-growing data set.
Python-based Beacon ETRM is still a relatively new technology, so there are constantly new features to test and tailor to meet our business needs.
There is a lot of integration and customization work needed to allow our users to take advantage of the full-power of Beacon.
As a new business with a growing client base, there are a lot of requests that need to be handled by logic which should be industrialized and wrapped in such a way that the users can run them on their own. Also, with each new asset, there is the need to test and map it such that we can service the full deal lifecycle.
Consume market data via an api, and structure it in our database for efficient access.
Understand the rules regarding the size of positions we are allowed to carry on the exchange, and generate a report that helps our traders keep within those limits in real time.
Although we're a subsidiary of a multi-billion dollar Swiss company, the US entity is run day-to-day independently, so it has a start-up feel, stable funding, and a long-term growth agenda. As a part of that, we don't have fully dedicated teams staffed to perform all of the functions that a larger, older company has, so our technologists own our code from cradle-to-grave, support EOD batches, and often have to multi-task to get projects done on short timelines. We are also constantly connected which means that we may be working or
watching the shop regardless of our location or time of day.
We offer a 100% matching contribution
Health insurance is paid for by the company. There is no paycheck deduction.
There is relative little travel needed for work purposes.
