BackerKit is the best way for crowdfunding creators to manage their backers, help fulfill their campaign on time, and allow them focus on what they love doing—making something awesome! We’ve helped thousands of creators to raise over $115M, supporting them in everything from surveys to shipping.
Our customers love us. We’ve helped thousands of creators to raise over $115M, supporting them in everything from surveys to shipping. We've also helped over 10 million backers receive their funded projects on-time and with lots of contact with the creators. We make decisions, build, and change features with our end users in mind and as our core decision-making framework.
We're bootstrapped & profitable. Building our company without VC funding means that our destiny is in our hands. We value our autonomy and ability to make our own decisions. We don't have to worry about running out of runway or investors pushing us around. We're transparent with the entire team about our budget and spending. We believe this has contributed to our culture of hiring entrepreneurial and hard-working employees who are super invested in the success of the company.
We're serious about work-life balance. You won't find BackerKit employees working late into the night. We've normalized workdays where most people leave at 5 pm, and we discourage long hours, working on weekends, and doing “make-up” time. We believe that you should leave your work at the office and should spend your time outside of work with your family, friends, and pursuing your interests & passions.
We grow together. We are big on leveling folks up internally, providing learning opportunities, and helping folks reach their career goals. We consistently work with each employee to discover and define their own personal and professional growth goals and develop a roadmap to achieve them. We support this by having clearly defined levels within the Engineering Department, conducting weekly 1:1's, and bi-annual 360 feedback reviews.
We pair program every day. We believe the quality of code that pairing produces is worth the time and effort it takes to commit to this style of programming. Our process avoids things like code review by ensuring that the majority of code going into production has been seen/written by at least two developers. Very little code is written outside of pairing. We also rotate pairs daily to make sure we’re getting a good mix of work and collaboration with other team members.
We deal with a lot of data, both for our users and from our platform which we use internally to make decisions. Some of the challenges we face have to do with capturing and exploring or exposing that data.
We also are in uncharted territory when it comes to building features. We're the market leader in our space and intend to keep it that way. This means we're focused on bringing value in new and creative ways.
You would be building features to help our existing and future crowdfunding creator customers and crowdfunding backers.
You would get to work on our integrations with crowdfunding platforms, 3PLs (Third Party Logistics companies), and social media platforms.
You would be helping us maintain and improve an already very good test suite and a codebase that despite being over 6 years old, is still very easy to change and up-to-date with Ruby 2.5 and Rails 5.1 (5.2 soon).
We are a diverse, close-knit team that prizes creativity, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn. We're scrappy and know that things can always be improved, and we view failure as an opportunity for growth and learning. Folks at BackerKit genuinely care about our customers, our product, our company, and each other. To learn more about our engineering values, please visit: https://www.keyvalues.com/backerkit

We're still a small team and enjoy working together from our office, but we do allow 1 flexible work from home day per week when BackerKats feel the need for some distraction-free work time.
Volunteering Opportunities - We care about giving back to our community and organize volunteer opportunities at least once a quarter for employees to participate in. Monthly Crowdfunding stipend - We love crowdfunding and want our employees to be involved in the crowdfunding economy. We give everyone a $25/month stipend to use toward pledging for crowdfunding projects of their choice!
