We enable software companies to build and iterate on native-looking onboarding (and everboarding) flows without code.
Why join us?
We’re building the first ever platform for everboarding, starting with serving B2B SaaS companies. Everboarding acknowledges that onboarding doesn’t end with sign-up, or with the first user. Onboarding and activation happens for each new user joining, and every time a user expands to a new use case. These ongoing interactions need more than one-off messages and pop-ups and deserve a platform that can create a holistic, targeted and tailored experience.
We have a strong team of engineers from companies like Palantir, Asana and Atlassian.
Our early customers and advisors are Engineering, Product and Success leaders from companies like Salesforce, Airtable, Webflow, Intercom and Ironclad who believe that Bento is a must-have part of the customer journey.
We’re well funded by world-class investors like General Catalyst and Y-Combinator.
A $100B market opportunity to rethink how software companies convert, onboard and retain their customers.
Engineering at Bento
We have a small and flat team (< 10) and are growing thoughtfully. We have an active and engaged customer base, and engineers are able to interact with customers directly across research, feedback, and general support interactions. Our highly experienced product team has a bias towards shipping and learning with feedback. We often deploy to production multiple times a day and invest in the necessary infrastructure from testing to automation to enable that. As a team, we celebrate weekly wins and balance investing in longer term systems and pragmatic progress.
(1) Embedding highly dynamic components and interactions in our customers’ applications in a performant and stable way
(2) Finding low- and no-code solutions to high code problems (e.g., automation logic to target users with specific interactions, or injecting dynamic content based on context)
(3) Scaling to our customers’ customers and supporting different environments gracefully
(4) Enable customers to learn from benchmarks across our broader customer base to easily iterate and improve performance
Productizing best practices – We have the unique ability to benchmark onboarding and activation effectiveness across our customers. To achieve this we have to invest in a data framework that allows us to easily understand the types and formats of content and their engagement, and in an ongoing manner, expose that to customers in actionable ways.
Throttling and targeting system – One of the biggest headaches of existing in-house and 3rd party activation experiences is the lack of visibility into how many pop-ups/flows/tours a user might get. We are building an extensible and intuitive engine to throttle and pick the right experiences so end-users aren't overwhelmed. To do this, we have to manage large amounts of data to make sure users are getting these experiences, in the right order, at the right time.
Bento API – Bento's vision is to enable rich interactions (beyond read-only content). Our customers want to collect data during the onboarding process to pass into their applications without managing the interfaces or logic to collect this information. We need to design and maintain a developer experience that builds trust in the reliability and security of the platform.
Building a framework for everboarding – Effective everboarding requires a suite of form-factors to motivate the end-user based on where they are in their journey. All this needs to look and feel native to our customers’ applications and be rendered in the most effective locations.
Working at Bento
We value drive, grit and a lot of teamwork. Each engineer has strong ownership over parts of the product, yet we regularly swarm to tackle a key priority as a team. We give each other feedback to improve our own skills and the resilience of our product. We’re low ego and high curiosity.
As part of our commitment to an inclusive workplace, we are happy to offer prospective engineers the chance to connect with our engineering employees who come from underrepresented backgrounds. It’s a way to get a better sense of our team and what it might be like to work with us.
If you’re interested in connecting with our team, be sure to bring this up during one of our introductory calls!
Unlimited PTO with mandatory 2 weeks off.
We have a 1.5 dogs-to-people ratio at Bento (so far). Cat people (and non-pet people) are also welcome :)
We go on company offsites to step back, dream big, and bond as a team! Our last offsite was in San Diego filled with lots of home cooking.
Our CEO is a 2x entrepreneur who has spent many years working on this problem space at companies like Intercom and Spoke.
