Beryllium
We've created a fantasy stock market for athletes, where people can buy and sell fantasy stocks in players.
Why join us?
We've hit 100K users in 2 months and are growing rapidly. Our product is super exciting, it blends sports and finance together. So if you love either space, you'll love what we do.
The founders are highly dedicated, have worked with leaders in the space before and have managed billions of dollars in trading portfolios.
We're VC funded by a leading gaming fund based in the UK, that has invested and supported numerous gaming/fintech companies
Engineering at Beryllium
Our engineering team works on weekly cycles, where we coordinate between our Backend, Trading Platform and Front End teams to make sure everyone is aligned. We have a very organised ticketing system with pre-designated priorities.
On the front end side, all tickets are tagged with build deployments, and are set for specific dates. Due to the nature of our business, there is some natural fluidity that is required, as bugs pop up on the fly and need to be fixed. Hence we keep time aside to fix bugs that appear.
Our system loads vary across the day, depending on when matches take place. Hence, we have hours where the average trading volume is <10 trades per minute, but then we have specific times of the day where we have 1000's of trades per minute. Hence our system has to be able to handle spiking traffic, and manage trading behavior.
Overall, the technical challenge is immense as we have the requirements of a finance firm, with the engagement behaviour of a fantasy game, combined with game analytics of a sports data science firm.
You would get to design trading logic on how each trade is recieved, verified, sent and managed by our vast internal exchange.
You would design the interaction between calculating a new price for a player in real time (using sophisticated player pricing algorithms that value players as they perform on the pitch) and then manage how they get executed by our trading platform.
You would work on structuring the customer referral bonus scheme which would reward top customers with the ability to refer more players and overall design player re-engagement and retention modules.
Working at Beryllium
We're a small team, and thus everyone is required to wear many hats. Nobody is an expert in anything, but we all try very hard to solve problems, even ones out of the scope of our day to day work.
We're a team that know that there are areas to improve across the company, we accept them, and then look for ways to fix these holes. Everyone loves what they do and love to challenge themselves to learn more skills and become better.
