Role Description

This is an Architect role who will work with remote teams of product managers, product owners, engineers, QA and DevOps, plus senior managers and line managers to deliver robust and high quality customer-focussed solutions.

As an Architect at Bigtincan, you will provide technical leadership, providing an end-to-end view of new work and feature changes, and how any changes affects current infrastructure, customers and what they are trying to achieve.

Demonstrate experience of architecture, analysis and design Assist in the identification and capture of technical requirements for Bigtincan enterprise-level products and services Analyse these requirements, break it down into deliverable components Produce analysis and design documentation for Bigtincan products Identify and propose tractable solutions that can be achieved within various problem and commercial constraints Lead any further technical activities necessary to assist implementation teams Advise on strategic technology choices across the range of Bigtincan products and services Collaborate on the strategic direction and key decision points with the stakeholders for the product Assist in the production of strategic technical roadmaps, architecture documents and other planning activities Keep up-to-date with current state-of-the-market for Bigtincan’s product offerings Keep up-to-date with industry technical best practices and new developments This above involves

Analysis of architectural issues and the communication of possible solutions Identify key run-time actors and architectural interactions Compare and contrast with other existing similar systems and components, including in-house Performing ‘buy vs make’ analysis where applicable Helping teams understand the problem domain, and collaborate with colleagues to devise possible solutions Understand and communicate possible implementation strategies to assist with the above Working within constraints: System performance, key metrics such as those in Service Level Agreements (SLAs) Awareness of development costs such as tools subscriptions Awareness of operating costs such as AWS transfer data rates, EC2, backup Awareness of technical knowledge and capability in the company Awareness of existing committed customer requirements and timeframes Writing customer-facing documentation Writing engineering documentation (e.g. entity relationship diagrams, flow diagrams) Understanding software architecture patterns, practices and principles, and applying them to the problem at hand Understanding how software architecture choices relate to non-functional requirements such as scalability & performance, high-availability & reliability, and security and integration In addition, an architect may be required to:

Plan and manage software development including scope, schedule, milestones, releases & quality Provide technical leadership and management to the development team Coach and mentor the development team on technology and architecture Work with the development manager to define development methodologies, practices and standards for the team Work with customers on product requirements, customizations and enhancements Requirements As an Architect working with colleagues based in the Glasgow office, you will have:

Proven experience with service-level and component-level analysis and design Two years experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred), enterprise customers, and up-to-date web technologies Experience designing scalable systems with RESTful APIs that expose JSON-based resources Excellent communication and collaboration skills using an appropriate communication style
