At Bird, the engineering team mission is to provide technology solutions that power the success of the company. To this end, we have built a team and a culture that moves fast and relishes the challenges of this ever-evolving new mode of shared mobility. We embrace obstacles and openly learn from our failures. We work to deliver a magical rider experience, support and inform local governments, and create an operational model that empowers local communities.
We organize our developers into “mission” teams, or cross-functional teams guided by a small (but important) set of KPIs that dictate our business performance. In turn, each team is empowered to create strategies and tactics to positively influence those KPIs and then deliver on those commitments. We work on a one-week iteration cycle and deploy new software at an incredibly fast pace. Although still nimble and swift, we deliver incredible solutions with a high quality of craft.
Our platform manages thousands of connected vehicles every day across the globe. We support a variety of mobile experience for riders, chargers, team members, and partners. Our services are required to be highly available and highly scalable. To support these, we create data pipelines that power advanced ML, realtime events, and auditing for all our operational requirements.
