We're giving independent retailers technology that's competitive with what market leaders like Amazon and Walmart build in-house. Our goal is to even the playing field in ecommerce and empower independent businesses.
Our team includes former staff engineers from Google and Uber and decades of payments industry experience from PayPal, Adyen, Braintree, and more.
Our team has grown from 20 to 110 in the past year. We're looking for ambitious, talented individuals to join our world-class team.
We have a core team of full-stack engineers who own large projects in teams of 1-3. Engineers have flexibility to move between different parts of the tech stack and projects where they work closely with the Product and Design teams. You may be working on checkout optimization experiments one quarter and redesigning ML data pipelines another. Engineers often own the full stack of their project, from technical design to development and working with go-to-market teams to launch the impact of their feature at scale.
Our Engineering team is mission-driven, learning-oriented, and collaborative. Each engineer has a dedicated mentor, weekly 1-on-1s with their manager, and team stand-ups and meetings. We're also a tight-knit community with monthly engineering events such as happy hours, brunches, and game nights.
Behavioral data & human-augmented risk engine: By owning checkout, payments, and fraud detection in one platform, we have an unprecedented amount of clean data to use for fraud detection. For instance, we're the first company with visibility into how customers browse and how they move through checkout who can use that data for fraud detection. One challenge is harvesting users' behavioral signals and integrating those into our fraud detection models. We're constantly improving these models and have a team of risk experts who help us decision on and track on the trickiest transactions.
Platform support: Checkout is the central nervous system of an ecommerce website - it's where payments intersect with order management, discounts & promo codes, shopping cart infrastructure, and more. We're constantly iterating on the core platform (and launching new A/B tests to improve checkout performance) while ensuring that these updates integrate with all the shopping cart platforms we support.
Building, training, and testing new fraud detection models with industry-leading precision.
Integrating Apple Pay as a payment option into the Bolt Checkout experience.
Building a subscriptions product and launching pilots with merchants.
