Boost Insurance
Don’t let our name fool you - we are NOT your parents’ insurance company!
We’re transforming the insurance industry in the same way that companies like Stripe changed the payments space – and that's just from the technology perspective. We’re building a platform from scratch because the existing solutions are old and pretty terrible. Our customers are disruptive insurtech startups and leading consumer tech brands, and our API-driven platform enables them to bring innovative products to the market. We're basically powering the future of insurance.
We need experienced engineers that are driven by taking on huge challenges. We’re not building the Uber for taco trucks, or the next Instagram filter. You will join a team that is solving an incredibly complex problem in a massive industry.
Our investors include Norwest Ventures, Greycroft, and Nephila, and we have raised a total of $5.5 million. We are already generating revenue, signed multiple clients, and have a strong pipeline through 2019.

Why join us?
We are solving a massive problem in the industry and have no direct competitors.
We’re building a complex event-driven platform from scratch using interesting technologies and tools.

Engineering at Boost Insurance
We're a small, collaborative team that works collaboratively in a flat structure. We organize our work in two week sprints with backlog grooming, sprint reviews, sprint planning, and retrospective sessions. Feature requests come from the product owner (tech) or, indirectly, through client requests.
We need to be able to determine pricing for a product in real-time using a single provided data point and then use multiple - sometimes a dozen - external sources to fill in the remaining required factors that determine the end price. Some of the sources bear a high per-call cost, while others have a long response time. The challenge of finding ways to parallelize, approximate and cache the requests to optimize both response time as well as cost efficiency is both complex and interesting.
We are also building a platform from the ground up which needs to be generic enough to handle disparate client requirements but specific enough to not require extensive customization on a per-client level.
You would get to work on a real-time rating/pricing engine that fetches data from multiple sources in parallel and combines them to determine an ultimate price for a product
You would get to work on defining and building an API that exposes resources with very complex variations, such as multiple current, historical, and future versions, in a pragmatic, simple, and developer friendly way.
You would get to work on a document generation service that uses user-supplied data to build documents in real-time.
