Brightline is the first full-family behavioral health solution built specifically to care for kids, teens, and parents across a range of common family challenges. Launched at a time when 1 in 5 children has a behavioral health condition and up to 80% don't get the care they need, with increasing need exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic, Brightline is here to help families across the country thrive.

With multidisciplinary care teams, personalized family system care, evidence-based care delivery, and extraordinary technology, Brightline is able to support families with whatever challenges they’re facing and ultimately help them thrive long-term. With Brightline, families can access support for a range of needs with our digital platform that includes resources and education for parents, interactive treatment exercises, and more; 1:1 coaching to support kids, teens, and parents with skill-building and guidance for dealing with tough stuff; behavior therapy, medication support, and speech therapy for a range of behavioral and developmental health needs.

Why join us?

  • Seasoned executive team successful exists including LVGO (IPO), CSLT (IPO) and AllTrails (acquisition 30x multiple of total funding raised). This is not our first rodeo.

  • We built and launched our MVP in 3 months during shelter in place with a team that has still never met in person. We did this by working collaboratively, towards a shared goal, and making smart tradeoffs around approach and scope.... not working 100 hour week. The NPS score for the MVP is over 80.

  • We strongly favor engineer autonomy and flexibility over micromanaging.

Engineering at Brightline

Engineering team and processes

Our engineering team is very flat. We favor autonomy and direction from our engineers rather than waterfall or other product heavy processes. We work in two week cycles (planners, daily standups and retros) to keep the team in sync. We find it takes a combination of product, design, engineering and our clinical teams to build world class tools to help our members . To support this, we are beginning to use the Basecamp shapeup process which really helps get these cross functional team working tightly together. We use tools we love that make our lives easier, github and github actions, VS Code. We love RFCs for big new ideas and pull requests to ensure we're all in sync on the changes that go into our codebase.

Technical Challenges

Sure we have complex technical challenges- security and privacy concerns especially with pediatrics, complex health plans and other health tech integrations. But our biggest challenge is building tools that solve the very real problems of our members and clinicians. We work hard to understand the problems our members and clinicians are facing, and rely on engineers to help find the best, cleanest and fastest ways to improve their experiences.

Projects you might work on
  • Building a brand-new from-the-ground-up digital only experience to help families with that are experiencing behavioral health challenges. Think digital educational videos, assessments, digital tools to help parents and kids work through challenges together.

  • Building a mobile app and supporting API from scratch- including a new onboarding experience to make parents lives easier (including embedded document signing for example), digital exercises to support therapy, async messaging, video chat and more.

  • Building new web based tools to help our clinical teams be more productive, collaborate better as a multi-disciplinary care team, and work closer with families.

Working at Brightline

We're a very warm, open, honest and cross functional team. We care deeply and empathize with families struggling with behavioral challenges and we're passionate about helping them. We're a team of problem solvers that are more concerns about what problems we're solving, and not so dogmatic bout how we get there.
