BRIO
BRIO was created to empower individuals with a science-based platform to better understand their health. Founded in 2017, we have developed relationships with labs, medical providers, and employers.
The COVID-19 pandemic upended reality for all of us. As the crisis grew in the U.S., it was clear that widespread, proactive testing was critical to stemming the spread of the disease, and that our health system could not meet this demand alone. At BRIO, it felt impossible and, frankly, not right, to continue with business as usual in this climate. We identified existing resources and relationships that put us in a unique position to help broaden testing, raised a seed round on this promise, and assembled a team to bring our testing platform to market all in about 2 weeks in March.
We are focused on empowering employers to test their teams proactively and on their terms, and gain the insights they need to understand and slow on-site outbreaks, keep employees safe, and manage risk as part of their return-to-work strategies.

Engineering at BRIO
Our engineering team follows Agile best practices. We follow two week sprints, and use story points to determine what is worked on. We also have: - Regular standups - Pre and post mortems - Backlog grooming - Hack days (planned) - Focus days without meetings
In general, the engineering team is encourage to be as engaged in our team and product as they are interested. Some folks like to visit partners, and others prefer to stay heads down on cards. We're able to support both.
With that out of the way, here are some challenges: - Moving from a monolithic to modular architecture - Improving internal tools as we automate existing labor intensive processes now that we have achieved a high level of product market fit - Improved reporting features to demonstrate value to our partners - Designing new features for Physicians to report test results - Moving towards React - Improving developer tooling
Adding new integrations with Diagnostic Labs (excellent way to onboard into our code base)
Greenfield feature development for physicians (e.g. automatic notification for result release), employers (pre-registration flows), and test subjects (testing for minors)
Modest changes to existing registration workflows to allow a compliant experience in Canada so we can help fill the gap in their overall Covid-19 testing capacity
At-home Covid-19 and other diagnostic testing self collections
