Canary Technologies Corp
We build sales and operations software for hotels so that they can manage hotel reservations with software, instead of paper contracts and paper credit card authorization forms.
We have a great group of investors, post YC, who support us for the long haul.
Before the most recent couple of hires, we were already profitable. We expect to be profitable again, very soon.
Whereas you're not going to be building compilers or new databases at Canary, you will be forced to build intuitive software for workflows that people currently use paper forms for.
We operate on a weekly cycle. We start the week with a pre-spring planning on what needs to be done this week.
Because we're growing, our weekly sprints to get interrupted by requests from high profile customers. We're open to this interruption because it is in the long-term benefit of the company.
It's great to have amazing customers and it's very important for us to go the extra mile in the early days to serve them.
The upcoming year will be a lot about rebuilding some of our core solutions. For example, there are certain third party services (i.e. form software) that we used to enable custom forms for customers. We hope to rebuild robust systems like that for our use case, in house, so that we can own the technology. Similar things apply to encryption/tokenization services.
Removing dependency on form software and building a custom form builder in house.
A data project to find patterns on where we are getting the most # of reservations from.
A prediction algorithm that tells hotels who the most important guests are (VIPs) and which guests might be fraudsters.
We believe in grinding in the short-term, with always an eye on the longer term vision.
We have an SF office as well that you can visit.
When need be.
