We are a family office that invests in and owns high tech companies. About half are blockchain companies, the rest vary from media to sports to publishing. We often source employees for our portfolio companies, and rarely hire someone to work directly at the fund.
Solid Rustacean - Sr. Blockchain Engineer Los Angeles, CA, United States, Seattle, WA, United States, or Remote
Why join us?
This is a chance to work at a family office directly for one of the first Bitcoiners. You'll get deep training in the Blockchain world and have access to opportunities throughout the fund's network.
We're like a strike force. We create, launch, and pass on to our portfolio companies to run and grow. If you want to be on the strike force, this is the place for you.
We ran the US' highest per-employee profit company in 2017-2018; we know how to make money at what we do.
Engineering at Capital6
Our current engineering team at the Fund is led by the founder, who is strongly technical. He is looking for a CTO-that-still-codes to be the core of the Cap 6 Strike Force - The team that focuses on prototyping products and proof of concept software which eventually get turned into real companies and products.
Challenge or opportunity - we constantly look at new tech, so anyone working here will need to enjoy a combination of learning and shipping. Someone who has an interest in finance, blockchain, distributed systems, and consumer facing product considerations altogether would be really really happy here.
Proof of concept for buildout for a blockchain, total value in excess of $1bn. This would involve forking polkadot and integrating it with some internal tech, then evaluating its marketing and launch prospects.
Super cool embedded-to-mobile project which will touch millions of people worldwide, and be in the press this year. Individual mobile hardware deployed could be worth in the $1mm per item range! Tasks could include things up and down the stack, from mobile app / AR side down to embedded platform coding.
Financial derivatives product — to be launched soon; the project involves a mix of coding requirements from creating a rust-based order book to integrating a web frontend. The product will be the primary provider of derivatives on a roughly $13bn annual commodity market, with no competitors at launch.
Working at Capital6
We're like a strike force that focuses on doing the initial heavy lift, then passing on what we've built to a team or company to manage and grow. We would rather push code than whiteboard code, we are focused on getting product-market fit first. We believe in incurring some technical debt on our way to launch. We like
T shaped people - a lot of general interest + some deep skills.
We are nice. There aren't many of us, so we stay friendly.
Four week vacation, mandatory.
Work when you want — it’s just a few people. We are currently remote, but will filter back in to the office as it is safe to do.
We'll pay for your gym if you use it.
Very good health insurance provided.
We will match most philanthropic contributions from our team.
Work from Home
We are remote during covid, and generally have a strong respect for the needs of introverts. That said, we do prefer to do some things in person, brainstorming in particular, so we would want someone who isn't a complete misanthrope. :)
We're a small group of people managing a large amount of assets. Anything that makes you productive and happy is fine by us. We just really, really like to work and make amazing stuff that changes the world, and we are looking for a few more teammates.
