Role Description

About Census 🔁

Census is how data teams at companies like Figma, Notion, Rippling, Clearbit, and Fivetran build better business operations. With Census, analysts can turn their data warehouse into a single source of truth and publish their insights directly into the apps that marketing, sales, and success teams use daily. With richer customer data, these teams can build better campaigns, understand what users are doing, and ultimately drive more sustainable revenue.

Backed by a16z and Sequoia, we're a hybrid team headquartered in San Francisco who love taking annoying problems most people avoid and building elegant solutions for them. We believe that data should be used for more than just making charts. This is why we built the first integration platform that works directly within cloud data warehouses.

Your Mission ⚡

As a Product Designer at Census, you'll be working closely with our design team, engineering team, and founders to create a great user experience for our product and build a design system that makes data accessible and understandable to everyone. We believe that data tools should get the same design focus as consumer products. We want you to help us build something that is not only useful but that can also delight – all while we scale to serve more customers more efficiently. If you are looking for a role where you can influence both the company culture and product experience, read on.

What you will be doing 🎨

As a product designer, you will have direct and significant impact on our product and company's future. Some of your responsibilities include:

-Take ambiguous and sometimes highly technical customer feedback and help the team explore and visualize product direction.

-Design flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity visuals for our product's UI.

-Work closely with engineers to scope and handoff designs and features.

-Own the quality of the shipped product experience.

-Help build and evolve our internal design system.

Is this you? 👇

We are looking for talented people who enjoy the ambiguity of early-stage startups, wearing many hats and taking this opportunity to develop their skills. It would be great if you:

-Have 2+ years working in B2B SaaS startups

-Have an excellent understanding of web technologies (including front-end frameworks)

-Can work directly with engineers to go from idea to shipped experience

-Understand modern interaction & visual design

-Love talking to technical users to understand their pain and make the product better

-Want to help build a strong culture at a young startup

Impress us even further

-Some front-end engineering experience so you can implement your design (HTML, CSS, JS)

-Knowledge of SQL and data modeling

-Animation, illustration, or icon design experience

Our benefits 🏆

-Competitive salary and equity

-Health, dental, and vision insurance (full platinum coverage for dependents)

-401k with 4% match

-Flexible time off (20+ days/year recommended)

-Parental leave

Census is an equal opportunity employer and we value diversity and inclusion at our company. We welcome people of different nationalities, backgrounds, experiences, abilities and perspectives.

About Census

We're building a a new kind of data platform that turns a company's data warehouse into an operational hub to power growth across the whole business.

Company Culture

We're a tight-knit team of engineers who care about why we build software as much as what or how. We like to start by building the smallest possible version of a feature & iterate in the open with our customers. We operate the company in the open and everyone has input on the product roadmap. The line between engineering, design, product, and even sales is fuzzy. Engineers are involved in customer conversations and ensuring that their work gets deployed and activated.
