Citrine is extremely remote-friendly. Even before COVID19, about 1/2 of our whole team and more than half the engineering team was remote. We strive to continuously improve our remote experience. We also pay the same salaries regardless of where you live in the US.
Engineering at Citrine Informatics
We hire engineers by discipline - think Frontend, Backend, Infrastructure - and then organizing small project-focused teams to own product epics from inception to delivery. We allow these teams to organize their own sprints, but it's usually a 2 week sprint system.
Every line of code is reviewed by your peers. We have a continuous integration system that builds artifacts, deploys them to a QA environment for manual verification, an automated testing environment for integration testing, and finally to production. Developers are responsible for the operations, performance, deployment and automation of their software.
Lots of data. We work with data from machines that capture immense amounts of data - so much that there does not exist the storage bandwidth and capacity to write it all to disk in the context of a single measurement. Citrine aims to be the repository for ALL the world's materials data.
Cutting-edge user experience. The intersection of advanced machine learning and materials science is unique. There isn't a playbook of common interface patterns to pull from, and we're doing novel work in this space.
Data security: Companies can potentially store some of their most important trade secrets in our software, and security is of paramount importance.
