We're still a small team, so the opportunity for impact is still really high. Most of our team has spent time at large slower moving organizations and love that we can ship new features, talk to customers, and really grow and drive the business so quickly.
Engineering at CloudApp
Our engineering team operates on two week cycles, or sprints. Each cycle/sprint begins with a meeting to discuss time estimates for features, and each team member contributes to what they feel are the highest value and most impactful things we should be doing, as well as helping other team members estimate the difficulty and time required to build new features. We use pull requests on GitHub to conduct code reviews, use Jira to track progress during our sprints, and we are using tools like Slack, Zoom, and CloudApp for both syncronous and asynchronous communication.
CloudApp has a product that is beloved by users, and used everyday by those users many many times. As a result, it's incredibly important for us to have high availability, fast performance, and a low amount of bugs. Some of the more interesting technical challenges we get to work with are 1) multiple apps across different OS platforms (windows, mac, chrome, ios), 2) video production — our users create and share a lot of video content, which means we have to ensure our servers are strong and performant.
Current projects:
1) Building real-time video sharing functionality 2) Building cross platform feature parity for our different desktop clients (mac, windows, chrome) 3) Building integrated workflows for our users to share their content into the products that they use everyday

Company Retreats
We have aimed to have a company retreat 1x a year. Our last retreat was in Mexico, and prior to that it was in San Francisco.

Maternal/Paternal Leave
For the first 6 months of an employees time at CloudApp, you can take up to 2 weeks of parental leave. After 12 months, we offer up to 4 weeks total.

Flexible Hours
We generally aim to work PST hours, and have regular standups and meetings to coordinate work, but the team is flexible on where they can work (many folks work around the US, and a few in Europe/Mexico)

Our team allows either full work from home, or if you are near an office more flexibility but typically something like 1 day a week work from home.
