Role Description

We are looking for an experienced frontend developer to help us elevate our messaging app. As a seed stage company, we already have tens of thousands of customers depending on us and we are just getting started! In this role you will work closely with Product and Design, and should love sweating the details necessary to make amazing user experiences.

In order to increase access to a wide range customers, our product is built with React and React Native so that it can be used across Android, iOS, and web clients. We use Storybook a lot. The web and native apps interface with the backend using a GraphQL API. Experience with GraphQL isn’t necessary, but React experience is a must. A huge, but absolutely not required, bonus is experience with TypeScript. To understand more about how we think about React and React Native and take a peek at some code, check out this blog post.

Here are a few key things we are looking for and have put a lot of thought into:

  • Experience working with React in a production environment (ideally consumer) for 2-3 years with 10,000+ daily active users
  • Experience in at least one lead role, ideally multiple
  • We'd really like to see a portfolio of relevant products or projects you've worked on
  • You live within a 3 hour timezone difference from California

Coast is actively seeking to diversify the team and you can learn more about us here. Women, minorities, and individuals with disabilities are encouraged to apply. We recognize that not only does a range of experiences and backgrounds help make this team strong, it also helps us empathize and build better products for our diverse customer base. We are an equal opportunity employer and strive to create a joyful and supportive place to work.

About Coast

We help small businesses succeed by enabling their team members to communicate quickly and flexibly. Whether it’s sending a message, completing a checklist, tracking deliveries, closing maintenance issues, or getting a shift covered, Coast gives business owners and managers time back. Staff find our app so intuitive that they can use it without any training and can participate from Android, iOS, desktop, tablet, or even a flip phone using SMS.

Company Culture

We focus on our customers and their problems, not the solutions themselves. We bring our best selves to work.
