We build ML-backed admissions tools for students using Rails, React, Haskell, and Purescript. Thus far we've worked with hundreds of thousands of students and are continuing to expand.
Why join us?
We have raised over $42m in venture funding from dedicated investors such as Morningside Technology Ventures (Xiaomi, TikTok), the founding partner of 5Y Capital, Fidelity, University Ventures, and more.
In 2020, after years of being a remote-friendly company, CollegeVine became a fully remote company centered on Eastern Time with a diverse cast of team members based predominantly in the United States, but also around the world.
We're growing rapidly, and there are opportunities for people to assume new responsibilities.
Engineering at CollegeVine
We use a Kanban-esque flow with work continuously being picked off a ready queue & worked on. Our objective is to deliver any specific task to production within two days of starting it, which forces us to break up large ambiguous bodies of work into digestible chunks. We make heavy use of feature flags and continuous delivery so it's both easy for us to ship work incrementally.
Teams at CollegeVine consist of a PM, designer, and several engineers. They collaborate to determine project scope, as well as update roadmaps as we learn more information from code that has already been shipped.
As a fullstack engineering team working on a broad platform, we're constantly trying to find additional leverage for ourselves. Whether that's using sophisticated type systems like PureScript's to make our React UIs more robust, or utilizing third-party tools to deliver a solution to families more frequently, our ability to create value for our users is a constant theme for engineers at CollegeVine.
You'd have the opportunity to develop our mobile application from scratch.
A unified system for managing different classes of users on CollegeVine.
Developing additional tools to help families understand the ROI & financing options for college given their specific situation & goals.
Working at CollegeVine
We're a pragmatic bunch who focus on learning, rather than trying to build the perfect solution up front. The team is a talented and mission-driven group that care about improving access to guidance services for everyone. It's important that folks are able to give us their best hours of the day, but we understand that people have outside commitments as well and are very flexible in that regard.
We put a lot of effort into fostering a high-trust environment where people are comfortable being themselves. As a remote company, we also want to give folks an opportunity during work hours to socialize a bit, so we play games bi-weekly in small groups as a way to get to know each other a bit better.
As part of our commitment to an inclusive workplace, we are happy to offer prospective engineers the chance to connect with our engineering employees who come from underrepresented backgrounds. It’s a way to get a better sense of our team and what it might be like to work with us.
If you’re interested in connecting with our team, be sure to bring this up during one of our introductory calls!
