Role Description

We are looking for an experienced Technical Lead Manager to lead our rapidly growing team of world-class engineers building our core products. These teams are responsible for all of our participant- and clinician-facing products—from our growing suite of COVID-19 testing, vaccination and genetic testing modalities, to novel products that help people access healthcare more effectively. We are looking for a phenomenal engineering leader who thrives in a fast-moving environment and works effectively cross-functionally across engineering, product, operations and go-to-market teams.

How You’ll Contribute: Work cross-functionally with our product, design, and engineering leaders to devise a plan for expanding and growing Color’s core products Lead engineering-wide initiatives and process improvements across the org Partner with Recruiting to implement and execute hiring strategy Develop, coach, and mentor engineers on the team, while also organizing and delivering regular feedback Manage internal team processes to help the team operate smoothly and interface effectively with the rest of Color

Our Ideal Candidate Will Have: You have 5+ years of industry experience as a software engineer (or equivalent role) 2+ years of industry experience managing software engineers You’re passionate about using software and technology to help save lives and prevent catastrophic disease You’ve managed teams that rapidly iterate and scale products, without compromising reliability. You give technical design and code feedback, but empower your senior engineers to own their design decisions You rely on influence and persuasion (not top-down edict) to drive changes. You have strong opinions (loosely held) about modern web app architecture, including the benefits/challenges of microservices and client-side frameworks like Angular/React You’ve built recruiting pipelines that support diverse and inclusive hiring in a rapidly growing organization You've launched features, products and/or systems successfully into the wild and iterated to incorporate user feedback You effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical collaborators You’re familiar with modern web stacks including Python, Django, AWS, SQL, REST APIs, React, HTML5, CSS3, and ES6+ You’ve analyzed performance or other data using query languages and systems like Metabase, SQL, Tableau, BigQuery

Possible Projects To Contribute To: Design a platform for genetics scientists across leading research institutions to submit and receive genetic data for participants of the All of Us program. Make genetics more approachable and accessible to diverse cross section of All of Us participants. Build a quarterly roadmap and hiring plans that balance the needs of lab, genetic counseling, engineering, and product teams Collaborate with other engineering leaders to define company best practices for code quality, reliable deployments, and developer velocity and happiness #LI-ML1 #LI-CRE #LI-CA
