Role Description
As a member of the Site Reliability Engineering team, you work closely with our platform team and service owners. You will be responsible for driving SRE culture across teams who are responsible for building core backend services to control our fleet of vehicles, run driving simulations at scale, execute machine learning training jobs for our Autonomous Vehicle engineering team and more.
More specifically, this Observability group is building out a new platform that will collect all the granular health metrics coming back from our vehicles once they are deployed in multiple cities (millions/billions of pieces of data) so that engineering teams will know the health of any vehicle at any time. This platform will also be used to answer higher level business questions like How many cars are on the road currently?
What's the average wait time for a ride?
Are there any cars on the road not currently being used?
.
We do look for folks that spend a decent amount of time coding or are looking to code more (roughly 40-50% of the time) but recognize that this isn't a pure software engineering role. The reason we do look for some development capabilities is because this Observability platform requires a lot of open source tooling + it's always nice to have folks that can dig into the stack a bit
and debug issues in a production environment.
For Tech: we run a mix of GCP and Azure, containers and orchestration all over the place - primarly GKE and some native clusters as well. Terraform is everywhere and if you've written Terraform providers that's definitely a plus but we don't need a terraform wizard :D
