Role Description

We are looking for Senior Javascript Engineers to join our Simulation team! Help us create a virtual world with realistic behavior for cars, pedestrians, and motorcyclists that will strengthen our vision, prediction, motion planning, and vehicle controls systems.

What You'll Do: We are looking for Senior Javascript programmers to design and implement React components and build out our custom browser-based Simulation technology stack. In this role, you will work closely with teams across Cruise to build tools, visualizations, portals and user interfaces that will primarily be used by engineering, data science, and safety teams. Essentially, you’ll build the frontend technologies that will enable Cruise to change the way people and products are transported.

What We're Looking For: At least 5+ years of experience building modern frontends using React, Redux, WebGL and similar libraries. Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Computer Graphics, or equivalent real-world experience. Strong understanding of JavaScript, ES6+, and dynamic frontend fundamentals. Experience working with backend REST APIs and websockets. Passionate about self-driving technology and its potential impact on the world.

Bonus Points Previous experience using Unreal Engine, Unity or other game engines Experience working on games with client server architecture Strong interest in documentation, clean design and user experience

About our Simulation Team Cruise Automation’s Simulation team creates virtual worlds in which synthetically generated data helps to accelerate the validation of our autonomous vehicle when faced with all possible driving scenarios. Through custom simulation platforms, LiDAR and Radar as well as our Machine Learning systems, our team works with data inputs and outputs, collision engines and rendering capabilities in order to build massive detailed cities and/or complex AI to train extremely difficult maneuvers. We are modeling million and millions of situations, far more than the thousands we can do using humans to identify objects collected by our sensors while out driving.

About our Engineering Team Engineering teams at Cruise work on plenty of unsolved problems requiring complex solutions. As an Engineer here at any level, you’ll ultimately contribute directly to our core technology on a variety of projects, collaborating alongside a group of self-starters in a multi-disciplinary environment. You'll use your software design, analytical problem solving, and programming skills to build software for a first of its kind autonomous vehicle platform. You will be researching and developing solutions to some of the most challenging technical problems in existence.
