Role Description

We're the driverless car company. We’re building the world’s best autonomous vehicles to safely connect people to the places, things, and experiences they care about.

Our vehicles are on the road in California, Arizona, and Michigan navigating some of the most challenging and unpredictable driving environments. We’re hiring people who want to solve some of today’s most complex engineering challenges and make a positive impact.

We are looking for experienced C++ software engineers to design and develop production level, safety-critical control and estimation code. Hundreds of vehicles on the road will deploy the software that you develop. You will work with top computer scientists and autonomous driving experts to develop state-of-the-art algorithms and software for controlling the vehicle and design and implement fault detection and handling algorithms.

Responsibilities:

Design and develop complex, highly scalable, and latency-optimized software in C++ Invent, extend, design and develop control and estimation features Take algorithms from conception to implementation and deployment Analyze performance from simulation and real-world testing (on public roads and closed-course test tracks), root cause issues, identify areas for improvement Work with existing code base to optimize reliability and performance Requirements:

4+ years Design and develop complex, highly scalable, and latency-optimized software in C++ BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or other related fields.BS plus 5-7+ years of industry experience, or MS/PhD plus 2+ years of industry experience Strong background in object oriented programming and system architecture One or more of the following skill sets: Classical feedback control theory, analysis and design techniques Knowledge of dynamics (modeling, simulation, validation) Experience with state estimation, inertial navigation, IMU/wheel encoder sensors, sensor fault detection and tolerance Bonus Points:

Experience developing SW for safety critical applications Familiarity with STL and Boost libraries Familiarity with Python Experience with autonomous vehicles or robot path planning Experience with physically realistic simulations (timing frameworks, physical modeling and validation, fault injection, hardware-in-the-loop) Familiarity with ROS (Robot Operating System) Experience in code optimization and developing code for high performance real-time applications and Knowledge of vehicle dynamics Perks:

Solve difficult problems that have immediate and valuable real-world applications Competitive salary and benefits including matched 401k, medical / dental / vision, AD+D and Life Paid parental leave Flexible vacation and 10 paid company holidays State of the art equipment for your work station Lunch, snacks, and dinner Free rides in self-driving cars!

About Cruise

Our mission is to build the world’s most advanced self-driving vehicles to safely connect people to the places, things, and experiences they care about.

Our vehicles are on the road in communities across the U.S. navigating some of the most challenging and unpredictable driving environments. We’re hiring people who want to solve some of today’s most complex problems and make a positive impact on the world.

Our car has demonstrated the ability to drive safely in challenging environments like the streets of San Francisco. See us in action here.

Company Culture

-Collaborative and Intellectually Honest: We're working on solving challenging problems that have never been solved before. We work together to arrive at the right answer, using to data to support when possible. -Inclusive: We believe that people who feel like they matter, belong, and can be their authentic selves so they can do their best work. We strive to create an environment that supports that. -Focused: Self-driving cars can seem like a pie-in-the-sky concept. Our engineers are focused on turning this dream into a reality.
