About Deako

Deako (based out of Seattle, WA) is a Y-Combinator 20 person IOT smart lighting startup with a completely different approach to the market. Our product enables homeowners to upgrade their home without without an electrician or messy wires. We work with the top 25 builders in the USA and are expanding rapidly.

Company Culture

We hire talented engineers who like working on cool stuff. Engineering works in a bottoms up manner rather than top down. ie there are no architects here that force a decision, we have a process for teammates to voice and weigh in on processes and technical decisions. Engineers are treated as equal partners in the company rather than cogs in a wheel.

We value shipping code that customers will use rather than features to check off a list. Generally we value an 80/20 rule where it is more important to ship a feature 80% complete quickly rather than ship a feature 100% delayed.
