We architect network and information security solutions for school districts, higher education and mid-size to large companies. We also manage Palo Alto Networks firewalls for these companies and we created software to helps us grow our managed services practice.

  • Digital Scepter started in 2007 and has already been profitable. We need a developer to take our firewall management software to the next level. We already have paying customers for the service. In fact, we stopped selling it until we can scale and offer the level of service we are known for.

  • We have 8 customers that pay $18,000 per year for our service. We want our software to be developed to automate the service even more. Selling the service is not a problem.

  • If you have the skills to create a managed service end to end instead of just develop software, there is room here to do that.

Engineering team and processes

The engineers at our company are network and security engineers. Not software developers. you would be the first software developer to further develop the existing software we had some contractors create.

Technical Challenges

Secure storage of customer data. Parsing XML configs for compliance to changing configuration requirements. Organizing these reports so that customers can understand them. Automating the sending of these and other customer communications. Making sure the configuration compliance checks are accurate and updated for a variety of firewall platforms.

Projects you might work on
  • Use APIs of security products to perform configuration compliance audits and report them to the customer with recommended actions on a regular schedule.

We are loyal, honest, hard-working and fiercely independent. We all work remote unless we are onsite at customers, which happens several times a month or a few times per week even.

Flexible Hours

Everyone works 8-5 in general, but since there are after hour maintenances, etc. we are flexible. With a developer, we would be more flexible unless customer meetings are required.
