Edquity
At Edquity, we believe in addressing economic injustices by using higher education as a means to narrow equity gaps, accumulate wealth, and facilitate social mobility.
Edquity is the first emergency aid platform for colleges. We use evidence-based technology to ensure your emergency aid gets in the hands of the students who need it most. At our core, we’re an anti-poverty company working to create a world where financial outcomes aren’t predetermined by a person’s race, sexual orientation, or geographic location.
Why join us?
As a mission-oriented, values-based company, we build technology that has a direct impact to the populations we serve.
2020 was a large year of growth for us - our team tripled in size.
Engineering at Edquity
Our development team works on 2-week sprints. Each sprint begins with a cross-functional sprint-planning meeting and ends with a sprint-retro. Working closely with Product Managers, designers, and customer support functions, our engineers benefit from both collaboration and autonomous assignments.
Working at Edquity
Edquity is a values-based and mission-oriented culture. At the end of the day, our team cares about the work we do and making an impactful improvement in students' lives. Our team is dispersed around the country, but we have frequent points of collaboration and connection to help us feel connected and communicative. We value empathy, a personal drive for growth, and a solutions-oriented attitude. We're on the smaller-side with our engineering team, so we value engineers that are confident and autonomous and ready to make a direct impact!
Diversity, inclusion, equity, and an anti-racist mindset must permeate through everything we do, from every meeting to every form of communication. We want to ensure Edquity is safe and conducive to the success of every individual we interact with, which of course begins with our employees. Not only is diversity important to us - it is intentional every step of the way. We are proud of the diversity on our team, but are always looking on not only maintaining that diversity but pushing those boundaries that permeate tech culture - we have a goal of our team matching the diversity of this country and the cities we work in.
Edquity's values, including our commitment to enhancing equity, are contingent on making sure our team represents the students we are serving. As a result, we equally value and care for people of all different backgrounds and identities, including both our staff and the countless students we support.
We want to ensure that as we grow, we continue to build a workforce that enables us to live our values and serve students to the best of our abilities. This goes beyond whom we hire — though it certainly starts here — and goes deeper to the internal practices we implement to make sure we're creating an empathetic and culturally sensitive work environment. Our commitment to inclusivity as a company ensures we can create the culture of caring internally that we aim to practice externally.
We value all types of backgrounds and experiences - not just traditional 4-year degrees. We encourage learning and professional development within our teams - in fact it is an explicit Edquity value. To ensure our commitment to diversity and inclusion, Edquity has an internal anti-racism committee, frequently audits our company demographics via utilizing self-identification surveys, and we are a proud member of the FinTech Equality Coalition.
As part of our commitment to an inclusive workplace, we are happy to offer prospective engineers the chance to connect with our engineering employees who come from underrepresented backgrounds. It’s a way to get a better sense of our team and what it might be like to work with us.
