Role Description

We are looking for an experienced, detail-oriented, technical, hands-on, Manager, Engineering to join our growing team at Emburse. This position can either be remote or near NYC and will require travel to meet with team members for collaboration, planning, ideation and brainstorming. In this position, you will play a key role in the overall success of our organization by planning, managing, and monitoring our engineering functions and team members. You will be managing a small but growing agile team, responsible for the engineering direction of the abacus business unit. You will be responsible for the successfully delivering initiatives in an agile environment and report on delivery timelines periodically to keep the initiatives on schedule and within budget.

What you'll do:

  • Work closely with product managers, engineering managers, and stakeholders to align development priorities and planning with the product and technology roadmap

  • Prepare and present engineering related documents to stakeholders and leadership

  • Participate in and Implement engineering practices and processes, including establishing metrics for software delivery performance

  • Ensure that the team’s components are high quality, appropriately designed, ready and safe to deploy

  • Stay abreast of engineering best practices, technology trends, tools and frameworks

  • Implement engineering practices and process

  • Ensure that the team’s components are delivered with high quality, appropriately designed, ready and safe to deploy

  • Respond to the escalation of incidents affecting the team’s components

  • Stay abreast of engineering best practices, technology trends, tools and frameworks software architecture, design and implementation

  • Contribute to software architecture, design and implementation

  • Work with members of the team to design software and systems as an advanced level

  • Identify and mitigate risks in development activities DevOps and Software Reliability

  • Establish and monitor incident and escalation practices for the team’s components

  • Establish and monitor DevOps practices for the team’s components

  • Manage teams that are located both onshore and offshore

  • Work with outsourced vendors to create SOWs (Statement of Work) with clear deliverables

  • Other duties as assigned

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, or Technology

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in leading software development with a minimum of 3+ years supervisory experience; 7+ years' preferred

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are required

  • Excellent time management/organizational skills

  • Leadership and management skills, experience managing managers

  • Developing for Linux environments

  • Strong automated testing, debugging, and troubleshooting skills

  • Experience with maintaining SaaS solution, including High Availability and High Scalability Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, team environment

  • Dynamic leadership

  • An innovator and strong contributor

  • Familiarity with the following technologies: Node/Express, AWS, MySQL, ReactJS/Redux, AngularJs, Golang, Objective-C, Java, and Android SDK
