Fanhouse is a subscription social media platform where online creators share the behind-the-scenes of their lives and engage with their closest fans.
Why join us?
3 months into launch, we've paid out about $300k to our creators - and we're already profitable.
Diverse founding team: of the 3 founders, 1 is female and 2 are male, and all of us are PoC.
Our investors are awesome: we work with The Chainsmokers, Jeff Morris Jr, Li Jin, Harry Stebbings, and many smaller angels that help distribute the product to our creator audience.
Engineering at Fanhouse, Inc
Our engineering team is very small (<5 people). We move very fast and operate on weekly cycles, starting with a Preview where we prioritize features and things to do throughout the week. We then check in daily via Syncs, 15-minute all-hands where each person talks about what they've done/will do that day (our team is distributed across time zones). We end the week with Review, where the team discusses dynamics and reviews the work we've done.
Engineers are not just designing a platform, you're also in the weeds about designing for social norms: millions of people reach our website, and getting them in the community and acting in pro-social ways require nudges in the right direction and designing features around community. This social systems design is unique, and just as integral to us as designing functional code that has to be secure and fast for millions.
Design the social features such as a public versus a private wall to help creators manage and build their community on the platform.
Build a cross-platform app using Flutter/Dart from scratch
Building a secure payments backend to handle mass volumes of transactions every day.
Working at Fanhouse, Inc
Team-first, tactful honesty, take action, encourage learning, empathize. But we know culture doesn't get built with buzzwords, so come try out working with us and take a look at how we act!
We look for candidates who are willing to accept, accommodate, and appreciate others' differences, and we look for them because as founders, that is what we do with each other.
We communicate openly; we use Marshall Rosenberg's Nonviolent Communication framework to raise and discuss sensitive issues, we take each other's feelings extremely seriously, and welcome hard conversation around them.
Our team is 50% female and 100% PoC, and you'll get to work closely with all the founders.
As part of our commitment to an inclusive workplace, we are happy to offer prospective engineers the chance to connect with our engineering employees who come from underrepresented backgrounds. It’s a way to get a better sense of our team and what it might be like to work with us.
If you’re interested in connecting with our team, be sure to bring this up during one of our introductory calls!
