Engineering at Feather

Engineering team and processes

We work in 1 or 2 week sprints (depending on project), with planning, standups, and retros. We track issues using ZenHub and GitHub, create feature branches, open pull requests for peer review, and once merged, Jenkins keeps our dev/QA environments up to date with the latest in the dev branches. Since we are a young company in the process of expanding our engineering team, many of our processes are evolving; it's important to us that we create a democratic environment where every engineer has a say in how we improve those processes over time.

Technical Challenges

We are building innovative software to support the needs of our 'reverse logistics' business. Feather's engineering team has the opportunity to build solutions used by every internal and external stakeholder, from our customers, to our warehouse managers, delivery personnel, marketing team, supply chain partners, and more.

We're building software to track millions of inventory items across the country, and placing a strong emphasis on data/reporting to help us make smarter decisions as a company.

Projects you might work on
  • Some of the interesting challenges ahead us include asset tracking (barcode/RFID), delivery scheduling/routing, automating customer-facing account management functions, and using AR to increase consumer buying confidence.

Working at Feather

Most notably, at Feather, we are very passionate about what we're building together, and we're incredibly proud to be the leaders and innovators in a new consumer space. We work hard and support each other to reach our goals, but we make sure to enjoy ourselves in the process, and always celebrate our accomplishments together before moving on to the next project. The team works closely with one another in a comfortable office setting, with music always playing on the Sonos and plenty of beer/wine/other beverages and healthy snacks on hand (and Cheez-its too, of course).
