Our team is entirely remote. Our product team writes requirements documents, after which the engineering creates a design document and creates a project plan. Each project has a team lead who owns the design and plan, and bears responsible for the end-to-end deliverable. We use a typical agile-style process where we meet regularly at a standup to review the open issues and assign tasks for the next days work. We use continuous deployment, unit / integration testing, monitoring, and other modern techniques to make the process as smooth as possible.

We deal with a wide range of technologies and problems. Some problems are about scale, eg, build a website that can handle hundreds of QPS. Others are technical, eg, how do you generate an animated GIF? Due to the nature of our business we are constantly exposed to new and interesting challenges.
