Our first angel investor is one of the best in the business, having been early in Stripe, Pinterest, and Makerbot and is on the board of Andreesen. Our second angel investor is the head of a $2B VC firm who invested personally rather than with the firm.
Engineering at freemarkets
We run a highly autonomous AGILE process. We spec out requirements collaboratively, first in depth in Google Docs, but then with updates that are often on the fly. We run code reviews and then push changes onto Github. We have two week sprint plans, and set 3 daily priorities. We let people work where they need to and work intense but flexible hours.
We're dealing with everything from dealing with deep machine learning and statistical modeling using SciKit / Tensorflow, to building performant and scalable single page applications using React / GraphQL, to building a simulation stack using Kubernetes and BigQuery, to building a live automated trader using Flask, Python, and External APIs.
