As the line between mobile and PC/console continues to blur, the portability and accessibility of mobile creates an even brighter future for competitive gaming and eSports. At the same time, it creates a desire for less of the same. Many have tried to build a mobile competitive multiplayer game, but very few have made a game that was differentiated from what was already available to watch or play on PC/console. We're building mobile games we'd actually want to play.

Why join us?

  • Raised $1.2 million to date by strategic investors: Y Combinator, Riot Games (creators of League of Legends), and M Ventures among others.

  • We're a passionate team with diverse experience from Riot Games, Google, Jane St, and Quantum Computing research labs. We're intentionally small, so this will be a role with a lot of agency and a lot of fun.

  • We're creating leverage through our technology and solving interesting problems. For example, we're using cutting edge networking code that allows for a lag resistant, deterministic gameplay via client prediction+rollback. This allows mobile users on data to enjoy fast-paced competition. It also makes game replays easy (and the future of our automated testing beautiful).

Engineering at Gamelynx

Engineering team and processes

We operate on one week sprints, and monthly product plans. We use GitHub for code reviews, with a PR bot that manages the process and automatically tags/merges branches and creates builds to test.

Technical Challenges

We're using a game network architecture allows everyone to run their own deterministic simulation of the game and synchronize only their inputs across the network. This allows us to have low network overhead and prediction/rollback of inputs without lockstepping (waiting for inputs). It's an exciting challenge to approach a competitive game without the traditional authoritative server model.

Projects you might work on
  • You would be working full stack on our websites, finding better ways to create content and grow faster. You might even start new projects and architect them from scratch.

  • You would be helping building the systems for our games. Whether that's an internal dashboard, or systems that give rewards and manages player data

  • You would be expanding the reusability of our game engine and adding features to our games.
