We're a platform that helps companies send premium gifts to their employees, customers and candidates.
Our team has built a successful business with Gemnote, having grown it 150% YoY since YC, profitable since 2016, despite raising very little money from investors.
Our clients include Airbnb, Box, Google, Facebook, Slack, Starbucks, Stripe, Zendesk and more.
A major portion of our code-base was written by contractors, which made it messy, so we're scrapping it. We're hiring a senior engineer or CTO to rebuild it from the ground up, having a huge say in product and team. If you join, you'll get to be the architect of a greenfield codebase that has an established business need. You can build it up in whatever framework you think is best with no technical debt to contend with.
We hate building products that no one uses, so before any projects are started, we identify customer needs, walk through very preliminary conceptualizations of the feature and try to present a MVP for customer feedback.
Our team operates on a weekly cycle. Monday is sprint planning—we discuss feature/product scope, prioritization of tasks and time estimation. In order to focus on coding, we do not schedule any meetings on Wednesdays and encourage WFH. Engineers present completed work in a testing environment Thursday afternoon. Fridays are for deployment and QA.
Engineers work closely with the executive team on product & strategy—helping with decisions that profoundly impact the business. Engineers also collaborate closely with designers to ensure that features are built according to detailed specs.
Thrilled be building: 1) Data-driven, predictive gift suggestions for a specific individual or company based on their location, gender, age, employer/job, interests/hobbies, 2) API that gives us real-time visibility on inventory stocks with 300+ suppliers, 3) Integrations with key Saas products, including Salesforce, Namely, Greenhouse, Lever, etc.
Please see above re: what we’re thrilled about building.
You’re going to be a huge part of creating the culture we want for many years to come. Currently, we function similar to a special ops unit—trusting people to specialize in their domain and own the work, while truly sticking together like a family.
We are not micromanagers and believe if we hire excellent people, they should/will be trusted to do great work. The team laughs and eats a lot. You can check out our core values on our site to get to know us.
