Getlabs provides safe and easy at-home lab appointments. Rather than needing to go to a laboratory and sit in a waiting room, patients pick a time and we send a mobile phlebotomist to draw their samples. Once collected, we deliver to top laboratories including LabCorp and Quest Diagnostics for testing.

Technical Challenges

We have many areas which provide intriguing technical challenges, but we have one which is more important than any other. That is working on real-world route optimization and scheduling problems, such as programmatic scheduling of resources/people.

Projects you might work on
  • When patients ask Getlabs to contact their doctor on their behalf, we manually call doctor's offices and request their lab order. However, doctors prefer to be contacted via fax. We need to build an automatic faxing mechanism such that when a patient provides their lab order to us, we send a fax without any human intervention to the doctor's office informing them their patient wants their lab order sent to Getlabs. In doing so, our cover sheet serves the dual purpose of providing BD for us - it educates the doctor of our service without any intervention. Ultimately, instead of having to contact 100% of doctors manually, we will contact only the ones who are unresponsive to fax.

  • When patients submit lab orders, the content can be time consuming to read. We want to submit automatic OCR to lab orders to ensure they can be easily inputted into our backend and then crosscheck that against laboratory requirements to ensure we efficiently automate the inputting of appointment details without manual input.

  • API for telehealth companies to schedule at-home lab appointments via one-tap. For example, a patient in a telehealth app would have a lab ordered for them by their doctor, then tap a time that's convenient, and the telehealth company would send a request to book Getlabs at the time selected.
