For over a decade, Ginger Labs has been in the business of making powerful, intuitive apps that help people across the world. We think deeply about technological needs, and craft innovative solutions that improve productivity.
Our company runs on the philosophy that each member of our team is a valuable contributor to all parts of our products. We encourage and trust our employees to make their own decisions and employ best practices. As a tight-knit, rapidly growing team, we look for adaptability and positivity. We value open discussion, opinionated ideas, and we frequently collaborate across disciplines to ensure our decisions make sense from all perspectives.
We are profitable. We don't have investors. We have an inclusive and ego-free culture and LOTS of plants. We also make a mean charcuterie spread on Fridays.
We provide comprehensive benefits, so that everyone has the support they need for a happy and healthy life because at Ginger Labs, everyone is treated like family.

Why join us?
We are bootstrapped, profitable, and growing.
We care deeply about our team, so we insist on a strong work-life balance (40 hrs/week), and we offer amazing benefits: - health, vision, dental, life, and disability insurance (we pay all premiums) - optional HSA plan for medical costs - 401k with 4% matching - commuter benefits - education benefit - charity matching up to $2000/year - we reimburses lunches and phone bills - we provide the best equipment (computers, phones, tablets, smart watches, ergonomic work accessories)
So far, our software has helped people learn to read and write, helped medical school students pass their boards, and helped people in industry perform their jobs more easily. Nothing makes us feel more warm and fuzzy than hearing that kind of feedback from our users :)
Engineering at Ginger Labs
Our company maintains a very flat hierarchy. We have project leads who facilitate meetings and help assign tasks, and that's about it. Our processes are team-specific, whatever works for the team, generally they are loose interpretations of agile workflows, customized to the people involved and the current state of the project. We often revisit this to ensure that we are doing the best thing for the team.
We deal with everything from low-level rendering challenges on iOS to handling live, collaborative CRDT data on our backend. And we make sure to take user experience into account alongside every engineering decision.
You would be bringing the Notability experience to the web: browser-based rendering and editing of complex notes, including text, images, handwriting, and audio recordings.
You would be building out the next level of features for Twobird, our email client that brings collaborative notes into your inbox.
