Glide builds mobile apps from Google Sheets, but our mission is much bigger.
Glide is founded by four former Xamarin/Microsoft designers and engineers. We’ve worked at startups of all stages and at large corporations. We have decades of experience in product design, compilers, mobile platforms, and developer tools.
We're also veterans of open source–two of us were key members of the Ubuntu team at Canonical, and we've created many other successful open source projects.
We're a YC company and funded by First Round Capital.
Glide has a very passionate early community of no-code developers who are already building and deploying impressive apps.
We are still very small, so we don't need much structure in our engineering team yet. Everybody works very closely with everybody else.
We currently operate with two-week dev cycles. We use a Kanban style approach, and manage our entire development loop inside Github. We are firm believers in using the best tools and practices, and if you have suggestions we are open to them. As Glide grows you will help us define the practices and methods used to develop the product.
On the front-end: Building a progressive web app framework that enables apps that are indistinguishable from native iOS and Android frameworks.
On the back-end: Building a data model and spreadsheet-like recalculation logic that scales and operates in a distributed environment.
Back-end: You'd work on a coordinator between a Google Sheets document, our backend's data store which mirrors and augments the data in the document, and hundreds of running mobile apps that interact with the data.
Front-end: Improve the Glide 'builder' environment by creating new interaction experiences while working closely with world class designers.
Front-end: Augment the Glide app experience by implementing offline support for iOS and Android.
Back-end: Implement support for Excel in Glide.
We value good design: designers and engineers work together closely and respect each other's work.
We value our customers: everybody on the team communicates with customers daily.
We value each other: everybody's opinion is heard, and we rarely make decisions without the whole team's buy-in. We work hard, but we don't overwork ourselves - we're in it for the long run.
We don't have a strict policy, but working from home one or two days a week is not an issue.
We have no fixed office hours.
We keep some snacks at the office.
We will work with you to make sure your relocation is fairly handled.
