Engineering at Grouparoo

Engineering team and processes

Our engineering team is flat - we have 6 engineers all reporting to the CTO. We work in the XP flavor of Agile, with daily standups, weekly planning and retrospectives. We pair program often, but not all the time. We write a lot of tests and are big believers in the power of automation - from CI to releasing our NPM packages.

Technical Challenges

We care about dealing with large amounts of data quickly and accurately. We are making both a self-hosted product and a cloud version, so making Grouparoo easy to install and run locally is a fun challenge, as well as scaling up in the cloud. We connect to many sources and destinations (20+ to date), so there are always new databases and APIs to learn about.

Projects you might work on
  • Building a new Plugin - How can we read and write customer data from, for example, Zendesk. We need to load in information that only Zendesk has (# of customer service tickets) and write back information (updated email address)

  • Building our Cloud offering - How can we best host Grouparoo for our customers. We use tools like Docker, Terraform and Kubernetes to make it fast and affordable to spin up a new Grouparoo instnance.

  • Faster and Better core offering - How can we build the most useful tool for syncing data? Do customers want to format or modify the data in flight? How can we visually explain the sync process?
