Technical Challenges

Managing the ebb and flow of hundreds of millions of dollars. Scaling data stores and designing schemas to enable long-term and timely access. Integrating with many payroll partners, financial partners, and the IRS. Designing and managing internal tools and in-product workflows. Taking a complex and confusing subject matter (401k) and making it simple for our end users.

Projects you might work on
  • [backend heavy] Provide improved visibility into the breakdown of ACH activity to plan administrators. Expand existing ach activity reports to show the breakdown and reasons for off-cycle ACH activity.

  • [backend heavy] Create a contribution limit calculator that aligns with IRS requirements. Calculations should be relative to the IRS limits and defintions for the relevant calendar year.

  • [backend heavy] Track changes of all major resources in the system and provide an audit trail of all record changes, who or what caused the changes, etc.

  • [backend heavy] Create an extensible authorization utility that wraps all our internal tooling and can be reported to our compliance team.

  • [mix] Create an interactive TODO framework that allows specific or generic tasks to be managed by plan administrators. Tasks should auto-close when they are no longer relevant (data changes auto-close related tasks).

  • [frontend heavy] Create a flow for onboarding conversion 401k plans (think turbotax flows). The flow must take in conversion details of the existing plan, report to our API, and present compatability with Guideline.
