Engineering at Hemlane

Engineering team and processes

We are a very flat organization. Once we decide on a product feature, our engineers work directly with stakeholders (customer support, maintenance, sales or even actual customers) to gather requirements, then with our designer to prototype out a rough design, finally implement it end-to-end. The process is usually iterative until getting final stakeholder buy-off. For development/deployment, our engineers branch off master, develop and demo locally to direct stakeholders, then deploy to staging for QA testing. This is where we obtain all stakeholders buy-off, then finally merged back to master and deploy to production. For both staging and master, we use CircleCI for CI/CD.

Projects you might work on

Maintenance Billing. Since it's not safe to give out owner's credit card info to plumbers, we need to generate one-time use credit cards.
Tenant pipeline/lifecycle. Build a unified interface for owners to track tenants, from inquiries, to applicants, to moving-in, lease renewal, to move-out. It's Kanban style dashboard with a special twist.
