Engineering at Higharc

Engineering team and processes

Our team values focus. We prioritize low friction, simple as possible processes. We write tests, but aren’t dogmatic about it. We contribute back to open source. We value a small efficient node_modules directory. We have no legacy code to maintain/interface with. We think engineering tooling is part of the product. We use infrastructure as code, so there’s an audit trail for all changes. We use engineering design documents for major technical decisions. We set quarterly goals and practice kanban.

Technical Challenges

We are always pushing the limits of what’s possible in a browser. Performance is paramount, but we also need to be able to present homes in a compelling way.

Projects you might work on
  • Ground truth ambient occlusion (GTAO) in the browser

  • Computational geometry algorithms like solid or polygon booleans that can run in a browser in real time

  • Automatic placement of building drawing annotation at quality at or exceeding human level

  • Version history on rich building documents

  • Federate login with Google, Facebook

We've been remote-first since our founding in 2018. We're tackling some hard problems but we don't take ourselves too seriously. A healthy balance of asynchronous and synchronous communication lets us prioritize heads-down, focused work. We encourage each other and we value feedback.
